five on friday

Happy Friday everyone, linking up with the good life blog again for another random 5 things!  Enjoy!

1.  No Spend October

Ehh just saying it makes me hate it more! I read an interesting post over here on Living Well & Spending Less.  She’s actually doing a new 31 day challenge about less stuff and more contentment (which is amazing) but suggests that you can also do the no spending one from last year as well.  After having to replace my husbands car after an accident this is a great way to reboot our financial world and get back in line with Dave Ramsey!  Its so hard in the summer with the kids home to stay on a budget.  To be honest I constantly felt like WE (really me) all needed a treat because we had made it through another day.  Besides food and gas for the month, we are committing to not spend money on any excess stuff.  We had a garage sale to help give a boost into our savings and even found some coupons to get a free starbucks drink before back to school night.  Now mind you its only October 11th and we still have a long way to go.  I have already started seeing Target and random red circles appear in some of my dreams…going through intense withdrawal.

2.  Mended

Started this book today, love it, love her!  The book is actually a collection of devotionals, set up to read one a day.  Already wrecked at day one, clearly thats how you know its a good book.  A wonderful story of how there is no brokenness God cannot make whole and if it weren’t for our “cracks” the world would never see Him.

3.  Couch to 5K

Couch to 5k

I’m at week 5, I am dying.  Seriously, if I run that morning I can hardly move by the end of the night.  When I drive around town and see people running I swear they are smiling.  Me, not so much.  Thinking I am not sure if I will ever smile when I run.  The only silver lining in this is that I mentally haven’t given up yet.  Physically, well thats another story.  I am using the app 5k runner, it has been great to keep me motivated and moving!  Check it out.

4. Sanuk Dotty

Got these shoes about a month ago and they literally are my new favorite shoe of all time! Super comfortable and cute as well.  I scored them at a surf store in LBI for 50% off in my size and in the color I wanted. How could I walk away?  Let’s just say I was thanking God that it was still September and our no spend October hadn’t started yet!

5. Potty Training

It felt as if I was back in the newborn stage feeling like she was never going to sleep through the night.  My two and a half year old has been taking her diaper off in her crib every night, so we felt like that was a good sign to start potty training.  I almost went back to the diaper in a couple dark moments when I just couldn’t take it anymore!  On day three she woke up and was angry about anything to do with the potty, she was not amused or excited about the 2 skittles!  After throwing and kicking her little potty a couple of times, I thought this bull is never going to be trained!  But after four days, she is officially out of diapers!  YEAH!!  She still wears a pull up for night time but in our house that still means we are out of diapers!! Calls for some type of celebration!

Have a great weekend!
